Just a little story about what it’s like to swiss cheese your block at freeway speed. As far as the cause of failure, I will never be 100% certain. My theory is that the violent event of hitting overboost protection right when the connecting rods were at their power limit caused a bend or crack in the 4th rod, and after 100 miles of cruising in high vacuum the rod just came apart.
